Description:
This past week was relatively wet with a total of 1.03" of rain across five days. Temps were seasonal with highs in the upper fifties to low sixties and lows in the upper thirties to lower forties. The ground is now moist which is an improvement over the previous months and it appears the rains will continue into this week. The birch trees are almost through dumping their pollen and the boreal forest has greened up quite nicely. While still no local moose sightings the wild birds are active at my window feeder and I hear the loons on Question Lake almost every morning. I have yet to see the usual hordes of mosquitoes which are generally thick from mid to late May through mid-June; this may be due to the rather dry winter and spring. Overall, we're heading into summer in pretty good shape although we sure could use more rain...
